Our school enrichment programmes play a vital role in holistic education by extending learning beyond the classroom.
Life Skills
Life Skills education in our school is designed to equip students with essential competencies for responsible and independent living.
Through structured programmes such as road safety awareness, NCC training, community outreach initiatives, and financial literacy education, students develop discipline, civic sense, leadership, and real-world decision-making skills. These experiences foster social responsibility, self-reliance, national pride, and financial awareness, enabling students to grow into confident, responsible, and accountable citizens.
Our School takes pride in being a pioneer in introducing Financial Literacy education for students from Grades 4 to 8, a practice we have been consistently implementing for the past four years. Recognizing the importance of financial awareness in the 21st century, the school has taken the initiative to empower students with essential money management skills from a young age. The Financial Literacy Programme covers key concepts such as budgeting, planning, earning, spending, and saving—skills that are crucial for building a strong foundation in personal finance. Through engaging activities and real-world simulations, students have developed the confidence to use ATM cards, understand PIN security, and some have even taken the initiative to open and manage their own bank accounts under parental supervision. By integrating financial education into the school curriculum well ahead of many others, SJS stands at the forefront of preparing financially smart and responsible future citizens.
The school has introduced yoga as a part of its academic curriculum since its establishment in the year 1980. Mr. Manickam, a celebrity and a recipient of Kalaimamani Award was the first Yoga Guru of the institution and with his blessings and as a mark of respect, the school has completed 43 successful years of yoga classes. Students are trained in various breathing exercises and asanas to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Sloka classes are also offered to connect with tradition. These classes provide a nurturing environment for learning and deepen our understanding of the vibrant cultural tapestry.
Uniform and Social ServicesKutty Cops is a unique and impactful program designed for students of Grades 3 to 8, conducted in collaboration with the UYIR Club of Coimbatore. This initiative aims to instill the importance of road safety, awareness, and responsible behaviour in young minds from an early age. Through engaging activities, demonstrations, interactive sessions, and real-life simulations, students learn essential road safety skills — whether they are walking, cycling, or travelling. The program empowers children to understand traffic rules, identify potential dangers, and make safe decisions in everyday situations.
Kutty Cops not only educates our students but also transforms them into ambassadors of road safety, inspiring peers, families, and the community to follow responsible road practices.
The Bunnies Program, the introductory level of the Bharat Scouts and Guides for Kindergarten children (ages 3–5), gently prepares young learners for Cubs and Bulbuls. Through playful activities, stories, rhymes, and simple routines, children learn good habits, basic safety, social skills, cooperation, kindness, and respect. The program also builds confidence, physical coordination, and early discipline through group games and interactive sessions. With a focus on empathy, teamwork, and creative expression, the Bunnies Program lays a strong foundation that helps children transition smoothly into the Cubs and Bulbuls units of scouting.
The school’s NCC Air Wing, under 2 (TN) Air Squadron, enrolls students of Grades 8 and 9 (ages 12–14) into the Junior Division (boys) and Junior Wing (girls), offering a robust foundation in discipline and leadership. Each year, 50 cadets undergo intensive training in drill, shooting, navigation, and aviation, while actively engaging in ATCs, treks, and civic initiatives like Swachh Bharat. The esteemed ‘A’ Certificate enhances prospects in higher education and defence careers, with outstanding cadets earning the distinction of Republic Day Parade participation.
Outreach ProgramsAt SJS, we believe that small acts of care for our environment can create a powerful ripple effect for a greener tomorrow. With this vision, the Green Hearts Club (Eco Club) has become a vibrant platform where students, parents, and the broader community come together to promote environmental consciousness and sustainable living.
The club has actively partnered with several renowned organizations, including RAAC, CUBE, G-18 Charitable Trust, Siruthuli, Season Watch, Shanti Ashram, Coimbatore Corporation, and the Indian Foundation for Butterflies.
These collaborations have led to impactful initiatives such as:
- Tree plantation drives

- Creation of green bricks and seed balls
- Kitchen garden sessions for parents
- “Act for Butterflies” conservation campaign

SJS proudly maintains a plastic-free campus, reinforcing our commitment to eco-friendly practices.
Our efforts have been widely recognized and we have received the Green Campus Award twice and participated in Asian Record in the “Born to Fly” event.
Through these community outreach programs, we aim to nurture environmentally conscious citizens who lead by example and inspire change for a sustainable future.
