Primary and Secondary School

Grades I & II

The first two years of formal schooling is a transition time and our primary focus is to develop the ‘LSRW’ skills and basic arithmetic skills. The students do not have formal exams, they are continuously assessed on each concept and fundamentals. We recognize their individuality and focus on their strengths by using the Multiple Intelligence theory of Howard Gardner. We incorporate Jolly Phonics and Jolly Grammar into their curriculum to enhance the skills of reading and interpreting.

Grades III to V

We have implemented EEP, (English Enhancement Programme ) to improve the child’s capability to attempt a general analysis and enhance their communication skills. 

We follow the CBSE syllabus with XSEED. This curriculum combines the 3 language systems with SEL, Yoga & Value Education, Performing Arts, Cubs and Bulbuls, and Silambam & Dance. The clubs include Dramatics Club, Quiz Club, Art and Craft Club, Eco Club, and Math Club.

A special pilot course on Financial Study apt for grade IV (2022 -2023) is included, and this batch will take it forward every year. 

Finlit

A financial learning program to teach students the skills of financial management. Finlit is a program of IFE Academy Chennai.

Grade VI, VII, VIII

The students are encouraged to pursue their academic interests at an advanced level.  The students will be able to gauge potential challenges and offer possible solutions. Enhancing the fluency, accuracy, and confidence of the languages learned through a strong linguistical base is in practice. A wide variety of club activities are offered to students to explore their talents and participate in numerous national and international tournaments. Life skill subjects we offer include:

  • Design Thinking
  • Information Practices

Students can become members of the Communication Skills Club, Quiz Club, Photography Club, and Environment Club or be a part of Scouts and Guides, Silambam as well as the school band. The students of Grade 8 are also given the opportunity to join the Air Wing of NCC.

Grade IX & X

We attach equal importance to both academic and non-academic pursuits. Work education is made mandatory for all the students of grades 9 and 10. This allows students to choose between food production and textile designing. These courses offered in addition to the 5 core subjects enable students to reflect on a plethora of social issues through an interdisciplinary perspective. Students are encouraged to take part in physical education classes and enrol themselves in service learning programmes.

The students are also allowed to be members of various clubs like Communication Club, Quiz Club, Photography Club, Green Hearts, Parampara and Dance Club. The club activities form an integral part of the school curriculum to build confidence in students and boost their self-esteem. These activities will be conducted within the school hours.

G20 Science Summit

Sneha Tiju and Krishna Pughazl of Grade-IX have secured second place at inter-school chess tournament organised by Delhi Public school. The students were coached by expert trainers at school.

Karate

The school offers karate as a self-defense course for all the students from grade 3 onwards. Students can earn various belts through the training offered by well experienced instructors. The classes are structured in such a way so as to provide undivided attention to each student and help develop coordination, physical fitness and mental strength.  The Karate team has taken part in National Youth Games Championship and won laurels for the school.

At Jayendra, students are presented with plenty of opportunities to excel in sports at regional, national and international levels. The school provides training to children by experienced coaches in various sports like football, hockey, cricket, volleyball and athletics. Special coaching for football and athletics is conducted on campus every evening for interested students.

Yoga

Recognising the need for each of us to feel connected and rooted to a supreme feeling of calmness, the school has introduced yoga as a part of its academic curriculum since its establishment in the year 1980. Mr. Manickam, a celebrity and a recipient of Kalaimamani Award was the first Yoga Guru of the institution and with his blessings and as a mark of respect, the school has completed 42 successful years of yoga classes. Students are trained in various breathing exercises and asanas to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Kalanjali

Kalanjali, the inter-cultural fest is the flagship event of Sri Jayendra Saraswathy Group of schools. This is a month-long fest which is conducted annually to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents in various disciplines. The student-council gains substantial experience in organising the whole show which brings out leadership and organization skills, shouldering responsibility, planning and identifying talents and building comradeship with the entire school.

Ahalya EK of Grade 2 has achieved Top 1% at National Level Toffee Ride Go Quiz contest Season 3 conducted by Toffee Ride Learning Programme.Ahalaya has won India’s World Record Foundation award under the category, the Youngest To Spin Bo Staff Maximum Times within 30 seconds. She has spin bo staff 32 times above her head and sideways in just 30 seconds while performing silambam.

Green Club

In the move towards achieving sustainability, education at the school level and awareness on a societal level play a quintessential role. Recognizing this, the school has established the Green Hearts Club where each child of the school becomes an active member. The Green Hearts curriculum aims to enhance the skills and provides hands-on experience in the conservation of the environment. The school also believes that little acts of care for one’s surroundings will engender a positive impact in the future.

The Green Hearts Club has joined hands with many notable organizations across the city like RAAC, CUBE, G -18 Charitable Trust, and Aeon Charitable Trust and engaged in numerous activities like tree plantation, cleanliness drives both within and outside the school campus, waste management, composting at school and home, green bricks and act for butterflies. The students have also participated in the Biodiversity Day celebrations and interacted with the collector, Dr. G.S. Sameeran, volunteers from the Forest Department and Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History.

Band

The school band comprises musically-gifted students from grade 8 onwards and provides them with opportunities to perform during functions like Republic Day, IndependenceDay and Founder’s Day. The school band helps students to unlock their hidden potential and build confidence and social skills.

NCC Air Wing

The school has started the NCC Air Wing JD to provide a great opportunity for the students to become cadets and participate in activities at various levels. The Air Wing of NCC begins its recruitment at the beginning of each year. The students from grade 8 are provided with opportunities to join the Junior Wing (JW) and Junior Division (JD) respectively. The training activities for these cadets include trainings at both institutional and camp level. The school believes that the young cadets of Jayendra will acquire leadership qualities, obedience, courage and numerous other qualities that will help them become the saviours of the nation in the future.

Scouts and Bulbuls

The Scouts and Bulbuls Unit have been in existence in school for the past five years with Bunnies and Bulbuls till grade 2 and Scouts and Bulbuls from grade 3. The main purpose is to build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society. The students are trained in life skills such as mountaineering, hiking and first aid. The students of Jayendrahave also won the prestigious Rajya Puraskar award

Mass Media

The Mass Media course offered by the school teaches students the history of media, the role and significance of media in the era of digitality, production and distribution of content. Students are taught to analyze the power of media and its influence in shaping and altering one’s beliefs, attitudes and opinions.
